Climate Champion Jennifer Wasco

Dr. Jennifer J. Wasco, DNP, RN is an assistant professor of nursing and the practice experience coordinator for the nursing programs at Chatham University.

Dr. Wasco has been a strong advocate for nursing involvement in addressing climate and health and is bringing that passion to Chatham University and to the nursing students she teaches. As a active member with Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) and the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments (ANHE), Dr. Wasco is working to educate nurses and students on climate and health impacts and engage nurses in climate leadership and sustainability initiatives. She was instrumental in advocating for Chatham University School of Health Sciences to join the interdisciplinary Global Consortium on Climate and Health Education. Not only does Dr. Wasco advocate to increase educational offerings for nurses on climate and health, but she also is working to advance her University’s involvement in responding to climate change. In June 2018, she presented the initiatives Chatham University School of Health Sciences is implementing to include the topic of sustainability in student education at the Sustainability Curriculum Consortium conference.

Dr. Wasco’s work was recently highlighted in Chatham University Nursing Programs’ newsletters. To view the full article visit the University’s website here.
